Dear Earth, I believe in miracles.
On 28th April 2020 by SatyaOh Earth, we are suffering. We are seeing how it is to run out of food and to be afraid of going out. We shiver as death blows in at our perimeters. We are tasting our powerlessness. When this is over, what will we do?
Will we dive back into consumption, compulsion, control? Will we book tickets for far-away holidays, get back on the roads, prop up our economy, go back to undervaluing those who do our dirty work, pick up where we left off? If not, who is going to give up half of everything they have? Who is going to willingly hand over their security? Who is going to let go of their old comforts? Are they? Are you?
I believe in miracles, darling Earth, because I have seen them. I have met walking miracles in the rooms of Alcoholic Anonymous across the world. I have seen the carapaces of my psychotherapy clients melted by the Universe’s care. I have seen hummingbird hawk moths, forgiveness, a volcano, seeds sprouting, sudden peace, newborn babies.
It will take many miracles to save our species, sweet Earth. The veins of our greed, hate and delusion run very deep. It is natural that we would want to cling on to safety. You see that, and you forgive us.
Underneath all the panic, the violence and the avoidance of shame is something even more powerful. This is the meat of miracles. It is dogged, radical, tender, loyal, astonishingly beautiful.
It has been gently raining all night, after weeks of dry weather which has baked the earth. Each drop is confirmation of what is possible.
Love from Satya <3
